Google Helpouts

Google has a service where one can seek help of others for a small fee depending on the subject.  If you are making an Italian dinner for your family, but not sure about how much basil pesto to use then you can just video chat with a professional chef for a charge to help you step by step through the process.  Cooking is not the only subject on helpouts for the categories range from arts, music, computers, fashion, health, and gardening.  All you need is a credit card and a device that has a camera to support video calls.

  1. I think this is really cool, but it’s very similar to helpout videos you can find on Youtube already. Google seems to focus on personalizing it more with the live feed. It’s also more organized than searching for a specific how-to video on Youtube.

  2. I agree with Bonnie. This seems like a pretty cool way to get around finding a live person to get piano lessons from, or attending a photography course. But I think I’d take my chance son YouTube and the plethora of other online tools before I dished out money on something like this (unless I truly needed it).

  3. I have heard of helpouts in the past and it seems like a cool model for people to get paid for their work on the internet. However, the help would have to be really unique and personalized to make people pay for help that they might be able to get for free somewhere else on the internet.
