Youtube has become one of the most popular websites ever to be in existence. It has also become the obsession for my one year old nephew. For hours, my nephew can sit in front of the computer screen and watch nursery rhyme videos that range from “Mary had a little Lamb” to his favorite “Old McDonald.”
Now, I have nothing against nursery rhymes, but when they are replayed over and over and over, at the end of the day you just want to break something. But, I guess it’s really adorable when my nephew sings “Old McDonald” at random moments and shouts “Ee Ai Ee Ai Oh!”
Other than the cuteness factor of my nephew, there is something pretty major that needs to be discussed: the fact that a one year old already has basic knowledge of how to operate a MAC. If you really think about it, that’s pretty mind-blowing, especially since many adults still do not know how to fully navigate computers. The fact that my generation is the last generation to experience the pre-internet days as opposed to the current generation who will never know what it’s like to live without a computer makes me feel pretty old. This current generation will not only view technology as a convince, but as a necessity. And it may not only be to watch Old McDonald videos, but simply just how they get through the day.
